Karen had a 1948 Indian Chief, left hand throttle motorcycle, as well as a 1946 Indian Chief prior and a 1975 nose-cone shovelhead Harley Davidson. It is not the motorcycle that is bad. Just like it is not a gun that kills. It is the person’s decisions, the lifestyle they choose to live and the people they surround themselves with, as well as the demons they let into their lives. Many God fearing men and women ride motorcycles for Christ. Karen did not. She road to be uniquely different as she sought to find righteousness in all the wrong places.

She started riding motorcycles when she was 14. At 17, she was the only girl to ride her own motorcycle to school. She became involved with 1% gangs while working in strip joints and bars after being raped by a mafia connected bar owner in NY.

Karen wanted to be accepted, to belong to something bigger than herself. Most motorcycle clubs, family friendly or 1% have that same draw – to feel connected to others. What she needed was a God connection. She became heavily tattooed and was uniquely accepted as a woman who could tear down an engine and hold her own with the heavy big bikes. The sinful side of the people she gravitated to touched the world of drugs, alcohol abuse,  sexual freedom of expressions but also assaults and rape. There were things one did to avoid being killed. Without God, the desire within to live right, fades to the overwhelming demons that surround us.

Despite the lifestyle she chose to live, the Lord never left her. She had made a childhood commitment, and she praises the Lord for bringing her through the sinful darkness to the light of His love again.
